Dan Trachtenberg is an American filmmaker, director, and podcast host, known for his work in the science fiction and thriller genres. Born on May 11, 1981, he gained early recognition for directing the viral short film "Portal: No Escape" (2011), based on the popular video game.He made his critically acclaimed feature film debut with the horror-thriller "10 Cloverfield Lane" (2016), which earned him a Directors Guild of America Award nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in First-Time Feature Film. He has also made a significant mark in television by directing the pilot episode of the hit Amazon series "The Boys" (2019) and the "Playtest" episode of Netflix's anthology series "Black Mirror" (2016).More recently, Trachtenberg revitalized the Predator franchise by directing and co-writing the story for the prequel film "Prey" (2022), for which he received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. His upcoming projects include further installments in the Predator franchise, such as the animated "Predator: Killer of Killers" (2025) and the live-action "Predator: Badlands" (2025), and an episode of the final season of "Stranger Things" (2025). Before his feature film career, he was also a host on the video podcast "The Totally Rad Show" from 2007 to 2012.
