Daniel Rovira (born Daniel Rovira de Rivas on November 1, 1980, in Málaga, Spain) is a celebrated Spanish comedian, actor, writer, and presenter. Originally trained in Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Granada, he transitioned into stand-up comedy in the mid‑2000s, gaining nationwide fame with his monologue “Mi familia y yo” and performances on shows like El club de la comedia. His breakthrough came in 2014 starring in Ocho apellidos vascos (Spanish Affair), Spain’s highest‑grossing film of all time, earning him the Goya Award for Best New Actor and the opportunity to host the ceremony the following two years. Rovira has since appeared in numerous films—Ahora o nunca, 100 Meters, Superlópez, and Disney’s Jungle Cruise (2021) among them—and expanded into television hosting shows such as La noche D and the Netflix special Hate (Odio), a return to stand-up after his recovery from Hodgkin lymphoma in 2020. A dedicated philanthropist (co‑founding Fundación Ochotumbao), vegan, and outspoken animal rights advocate, he balances his career with a commitment to social causes and invites audiences to laugh, think, and live intentionally.
