Daniel Zovatto is a Costa Rican actor born on June 28, 1991, in San José, Costa Rica. He is the son of television personality Sylvia Blanco and Argentinian politician Daniel Zovatto Garetto. Zovatto's passion for acting was ignited during his childhood visits to his mother's talk show sets, and he was further influenced by his father's love for horror films, particularly The Shining. He adopted the nickname 'Danny' after the film's protagonist, Danny Torrance. After relocating to New York City, he pursued theater and began his acting career with the short film The Return (2012). He later moved to Los Angeles, where he made his feature film debut in the horror movie Beneath (2013) and his television debut in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013). Zovatto gained recognition for his roles in horror films such as It Follows (2014) and Don't Breathe (2016). He also appeared in the romantic comedy Laggies (2014) and had a recurring role in the television series Fear the Walking Dead (2016). In 2020, he starred as Tiago Vega in Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. In 2023, he portrayed Father Esquibel in The Pope's Exorcist and the real-life serial killer Rodney Alcala in Anna Kendrick's directorial debut, Woman of the Hour. Beyond acting, Zovatto is an accomplished painter, drawing inspiration from artists like Pablo Picasso and Jean-Michel Basquiat. He is also an avid dog lover and enjoys playing golf . He married actress Tara Holt on March 24, 2023, and they have a daughter named Kaya .
