David Bradley
David Bradley is an acclaimed English actor with a prolific career spanning over five decades on stage and screen, known for his ability to portray both villainous and sympathetic characters. Born in York in 1942, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after an initial apprenticeship as an optical instrument maker, and began his career in repertory theatre, including the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, winning a Laurence Olivier Award for his performance as the Fool in King Lear in 1991. He achieved widespread international recognition late in his career for two iconic roles in major fantasy franchises: the surly caretaker Argus Filch across the Harry Potter film series, and the treacherous patriarch Lord Walder Frey in the HBO series Game of Thrones. Bradley also won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for the crime drama Broadchurch and is a notable figure in the Doctor Who universe, having played both the alien Solomon and the original Doctor, William Hartnell, in the docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time and later reprising the First Doctor role in the series itself. His other key roles include Professor Abraham Setrakian in The Strain and the recurring role of Ray Johnson in the comedy series After Life.
