David Morse

David Morse is a highly respected American actor, director, and stage performer born on October 11, 1953, in Beverly, Massachusetts. The eldest of four children, his father, Charles, was a salesman, and his mother, Jacquelyn, was a teacher. He began his acting career in theater with the Boston Repertory Company in the 1970s before moving to New York to work with the Circle Repertory Company. His breakout role came in 1982 with the lead part of Dr. Jack Morrison in the television medical drama St. Elsewhere.Throughout his career, Morse has been known for his versatility and compelling performances in both film and television. His notable film roles include a compassionate corrections officer in The Green Mile (1999), a police detective in 12 Monkeys (1995), and a determined police chief in The Rock (1996). He has also had a strong presence in television with recurring roles as Detective Michael Tritter on House and a police lieutenant in Treme. Morse has been recognized for his work with multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations.In addition to his screen work, Morse has a successful stage career, receiving a Tony Award nomination for his performance in The Seafarer and winning a Drama Desk Award and an Obie Award for his role in the play How I Learned to Drive. He married actress and author Susan Wheeler Duff in 1982, and they have three children. After their home was damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they currently reside.
