David Schofield

David Schofield (born December 16, 1951, in Wythenshawe, Manchester, England) is an accomplished English actor renowned for his versatile performances across film, television, and theatre. Raised in a working-class family as one of ten siblings, Schofield's early exposure to theatre ignited his passion for acting. At the age of 12, he began his acting journey at Manchester Boys' School and later worked as a student assistant stage manager at a local repertory theatre. By 19, he enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art but left early to pursue a professional acting career . Schofield's extensive stage career includes notable roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre. He portrayed John Merrick in The Elephant Man at the Hampstead Theatre (1977) and the Royal National Theatre (1981), and played Mark Antony in Julius Caesar and Angelo in Measure for Measure at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in 1983 . In film, Schofield is best known for his roles as Falco in Gladiator (2000), McQueen in From Hell (2001), and Mr. Mercer in the Pirates of the Caribbean series (2003–2007) .
