David Schwimmer
David Lawrence Schwimmer is an American actor, director, and producer, born on November 2, 1966, best known globally for his iconic role as the perpetually unlucky-in-love paleontologist Dr. Ross Geller on the immensely popular sitcom Friends (1994–2004). He was the first actor cast in the ensemble and received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for the role in 1995. Prior to his massive success on Friends, Schwimmer co-founded the Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago in 1988 after graduating from Northwestern University, where he continues to be an active member, focusing much of his post-Friends career on stage and directing projects. Following the sitcom's finale, Schwimmer diversified his work, notably lending his voice to the anxious, hypochondriac giraffe Melman throughout the entire Madagascar animated film series (2005-2012). On television, he earned critical acclaim and a second Emmy nomination for portraying attorney Robert Kardashian in the 2016 miniseries The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story. He also had a main role as a clumsy NSA agent in the British comedy series Intelligence (2020–2023). Behind the camera, he has directed ten episodes of Friends, as well as feature films like the British comedy Run Fatboy Run (2007) and the independent drama Trust (2010), demonstrating his continued commitment to both comedic and dramatic storytelling on stage and screen.
