Deborah Hedwall

Deborah Hedwall is an accomplished American stage, film, and television actress and a highly respected acting teacher. Born on March 14, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, she has spent over 30 years as a prominent figure in the New York theater scene. She is perhaps most celebrated for her performance in the original production of Sight Unseen at the Manhattan Theatre Club, for which she won an Obie Award for Outstanding Performance and received a Drama Desk Award nomination. Trained by legendary mentors Sanford Meisner and Uta Hagen, Hedwall has since become a master teacher herself, heading acting programs at institutions like Rutgers University and maintaining her own private studio in NYC. On television, Hedwall is well known for her series regular role as the mother in the Emmy-winning drama I’ll Fly Away and for portraying Ina Muldoon in Edward Burns' Public Morals. Her versatile screen career includes recurring and guest roles in high-profile series such as Succession, Homeland, Jessica Jones, The West Wing, and multiple episodes of Law & Order. She also appeared alongside Al Pacino in the HBO film You Don't Know Jack. Her film credits include Vera Farmiga’s Higher Ground, After Yang, and the cult horror film Alone in the Dark.
