Derek McGrath is a Canadian actor and writer, born on June 4, 1951, in Porcupine (or Timmins), Ontario, Canada. His career began at the age of 10 as a stage and radio performer, notably as Linus in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." He later moved to Toronto and honed his comedic talents with Toronto's Second City improvisation troupe. McGrath is also a musician, playing guitar and writing his own music. He has a prolific career spanning numerous television series and films, often portraying bookish or lightly eccentric characters. His notable television roles include Ozwald Valentine in "Dallas," Dr. Benjamin Jeffcoate in "My Secret Identity" (for which he received Gemini Award nominations), Andy Schroeder in "Cheers," Crewman Chell in "Star Trek: Voyager," and Reverend Duncan Magee in "Little Mosque on the Prairie." He has also lent his voice to various animated productions, including "Iggy Arbuckle" and "Bob & Doug," and narrated the Genie Award-winning short "The Hungry Squid." His film credits include "Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol," "Charlie Bartlett," and "Thanksgiving."
