Diego Dionisio Luna Alexander (born December 29, 1979) is a Mexican actor, director, and producer. Born in Toluca and raised in Mexico City, Luna comes from a family deeply involved in the arts; his father, Alejandro Luna, is an acclaimed theater and film set designer, and his late mother, Fiona Alexander, was a British costume designer who tragically died when he was two.Luna's acting career began at a young age, with early roles in Mexican telenovelas like "El abuelo y yo" (1992), where he starred alongside his childhood best friend, Gael García Bernal. He gained international recognition with his breakthrough role in Alfonso Cuarón's critically acclaimed film "Y tu mamá también" (2001), again opposite Bernal. This success led to a more prominent presence in American cinema, with roles in films such as "Frida" (2002), "Open Range" (2003), "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights" (2004), "The Terminal" (2004), "Milk" (2008), and "Elysium" (2013).In the 2010s, Luna's career expanded further, notably portraying Cassian Andor in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016) and reprising the role in the Disney+ series "Andor" (2022-2025).
