Dilip Shankar

Dilip Shankar (born October 29, 1970, in New Delhi) is an accomplished Indian filmmaker, actor, playwright, theatre director, and casting director. A prominent presence in Delhi’s theatre scene, he has written over 36 plays and directed productions such as Zangoora – The Gypsy Prince at Kingdom of Dreams (2010–2012), and notably portrayed roles like Cassio (Othello), Jawaharlal Nehru (Nehru – His Inner Story), and Raju (Guide). In cinema, Shankar made his directorial debut with Aatank Hi Aatank (1995) and later directed Married 2 America (2012). He is widely recognized for his expertise as a casting director, instrumental in selecting talent for acclaimed international and Indian films including Monsoon Wedding (2001), Shadows of Time (2004), The Darjeeling Limited (2007), and Life of Pi (2012), as well as Indian projects like Delhi 6 and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag . Additionally, Shankar has held roles behind the camera as associate director on Faith Connections and as line producer for films like Valley of Flowers, Samsara, and Ayurveda – Art of Being.
