Diogo Morgado
Diogo Morgado, born Diogo Miguel Morgado Soares on January 17, 1981, is a Portuguese actor, director, and producer who first rose to prominence in his native country. He began his career at the age of 14 as a model and quickly moved into acting at 15, gaining early recognition through major roles in popular Portuguese telenovelas and series, such as Laços de Sangue (2010), alongside extensive work in regional theater. He achieved significant international fame for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in the 2013 History Channel miniseries The Bible, which was a massive ratings success. He reprised the role in the 2014 feature film adaptation, Son of God, for which he earned a Grace Award for Most Inspiring Performance. This iconic role led to his nickname "Hot Jesus" and established him as a recognizable face in American television and film. Morgado has since continued his international career, starring as the archangel Gabriel (The Man/The Devil) in the CW series The Messengers (2015) and appearing in the final season of the ABC drama Revenge. His filmography includes independent American films like Red Butterfly and Born to Race: Fast Track, as well as his role as Monsignor Delgarde in the 2021 supernatural horror film The Unholy. Additionally, Morgado is a multilingual artist, fluent in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish, and has expanded his creative efforts into directing and writing, with credits on short and feature films such as Solum and Excuse. He continues to split his time between Portugal and Los Angeles.
