Dolph Lundgren

Dolph Lundgren is a Swedish actor, filmmaker, and martial artist born on November 3, 1957, in Stockholm, Sweden. He gained international fame for his iconic role as the Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in "Rocky IV" (1985), a part he reprised in "Creed II" (2018). Lundgren holds a degree in chemical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and a master's degree from the University of Sydney. He also received a Fulbright scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology but chose to pursue acting instead. Dolph started his acting career with a small role in the James Bond film "A View to a Kill" (1985) before landing his breakthrough role in "Rocky IV" after a highly competitive audition process. Known for his towering presence (6'5") and martial arts skills—he holds a 4th dan black belt in Kyokushin karate and was European karate champion—he became a staple of 1980s and 1990s action movies such as "Masters of the Universe" (1987), "The Punisher" (1989), and the "Universal Soldier" film series. In the 2000s, Lundgren expanded into directing and starring in his own action films, including "The Defender" (2004) and "The Mechanik" (2005). He also starred in ensemble action films like "The Expendables" series. Besides his film career, his athletic background includes being captain of the Swedish National Karate Team and serving as team leader for the U.S. Olympic Pentathlon Team in 1996.
