Dougray Scott, born Stephen Scott on November 26, 1965, in Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland, is a Scottish actor and producer known for his versatile roles in film and television. He adopted "Dougray" as his stage name after discovering that "Stephen Scott" was already registered with the acting union Equity. Scott's acting journey began in the late 1980s, with early appearances in British television series such as Soldier Soldier and Taggart. He studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where he was named Most Promising Drama Student . His breakthrough came in the early 1990s with the British drama series Stay Lucky, leading to roles in films like Ever After (1998) and Mission: Impossible 2 (2000), where he portrayed the antagonist Sean Ambrose. In addition to his film career, Scott has made significant contributions to television. He starred as Dr. Norman Godfrey in the Netflix series Hemlock Grove (2013–2015) and as Jacob Kane in Batwoman (2019–2020) . He also portrayed Detective Inspector Ray Lennox in the TV drama Crime, based on Irvine Welsh's novel, set in Edinburgh . Scott has been married twice. His first marriage was to casting director Sarah Trevis, with whom he has twins, Eden and Gabriel. They divorced in 2005. In 2007, he married actress Claire Forlani, and they have a son named Milo. Throughout his career, Scott has received several accolades, including a nomination for Best Actor at the Australian Film Institute Awards in 2009 and recognition for his performances in both film and television .​
