Duan Yihong

Duan Yihong (段奕宏; born Duan Long on May 16, 1973, in Yining City, Xinjiang) is a highly respected Chinese actor known for his intense, stoic portrayals in both film and television. After three attempts, he was admitted to the Central Academy of Drama in 1994 and graduated in 1998, promptly joining the National Theatre Company of China . He gained widespread recognition for his roles as Major Yuan Lang in the acclaimed TV series Soldiers Sortie (2006), Long Wenzhang in My Chief and My Regiment (2009), and Hei Wa in the epic White Deer Plain (2011). His breakthrough on the big screen came with Drifters (2003), which premiered at Cannes, and earned him multiple Best Actor awards: the 2015 Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet for The Dead End, and the 2017 Tokyo International Film Festival for The Looming Storm, making him the first Chinese actor to win top honors at two Class-A international festivals. Duan is equally skilled in crime and action films; his notable credits include Battle of Memories, Extraordinary Mission, and The Battle at Lake Changjin . In 2025, he further cemented his action credentials by portraying Fang Yi, chief of staff in the large-scale submarine thriller Operation Hadal. Off-screen, Duan Yihong is deeply admired for his commitment to craft—immersing himself in roles ranging from soldiers to police officers—and his persistence echoes in his rise from humble family roots in Xinjiang to national stardom. Married to actress Wang Jin (also known by her Japanese name, Nakamura Sachiko) since 2011, Duan keeps his private life deliberately low-key.
