Ed Guiney
Ed Guiney is an Irish-American film producer and co-founder of Element Pictures, a prominent film and television production company established in 2001 alongside Andrew Lowe. Element Pictures, headquartered in Dublin with additional offices in London and Belfast, has become a significant player in the European film industry, known for producing critically acclaimed films and television series. Guiney has been instrumental in the production of several award-winning projects. Notably, he produced Room (2015), which garnered multiple accolades, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. He also produced The Favourite (2018), which won the British Academy Film Award for Best Film and earned several Oscar nominations. In 2024, Element Pictures co-produced Poor Things, which won four Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Emma Stone, and received two Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Beyond his production work, Guiney is actively involved in the Irish film community. He co-founded Volta Pictures, an independent film distribution company, and has been a strong advocate for Irish storytelling in cinema. In 2024, he spearheaded the inaugural Storyhouse festival in Dublin, aiming to cultivate and celebrate screenwriting talent within Ireland. Guiney's contributions to the film industry have been recognized with multiple nominations, including three Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and two British Academy Film Awards. His work continues to influence and shape the landscape of contemporary cinema.
