Edi Mūe Gathegi (born March 10, 1979, in Nairobi, Kenya) is a Kenyan‑American actor celebrated for his dynamic range across film, television, and theater. After relocating to California, he earned a BA from UC Santa Barbara and an MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He debuted onscreen in Crank (2006), gained attention as “Cheese” in Gone Baby Gone, and played the vampire Laurent in Twilight and New Moon.His versatile performances continued as Dr. Jeffrey Cole on House, Darwin in X‑Men: First Class, and Baron Jacobee in Into the Badlands, before securing recurring roles in The Blacklist and its spin‑off, and starring in Crackle’s StartUp . Since 2022, he’s been a series regular on Apple TV+’s For All Mankind as Dev Ayesa, earning critical acclaim and a Hollywood Critics Association nomination . In 2025, Gathegi joins the DC Universe as Mister Terrific in James Gunn’s Superman, showcasing his continued ascent in major franchises . Off‑screen, he’s an OBIE and Drama Desk award‑winner for theater, and remains active in mentoring and producing diverse projects.
