Charlie "El Huevo" Barrientos is a prominent Mexican screenwriter, director, and producer who has spent over 15 years becoming one of the most sought-after comedy writers in Latin America. Originally from Tijuana, Barrientos began his career in advertising before transitioning to television, where he worked at Telehit and later served as a creative director at Televisa for the program Hoy. He gained significant industry recognition as the head writer for the popular comedy sketch channel Backdoor, which produced the viral "Harina" sketch—the most-watched YouTube video in Mexico in 2019. This success led him to adapt the concept into the hit series Harina: El Teniente vs. El Cancelador for Amazon Prime and Comedy Central. Throughout his career, Barrientos has collaborated with major global platforms including Netflix, Paramount, and Lionsgate, contributing his sharp comedic style to projects like Ojitos de Huevo, Mi Tío, and El candidato honesto, the latter of which became a major Mexican box office success in 2024. He often works alongside his brother, actor and comedian Mauricio "El Diablito" Barrientos, and has branched out into other genres, including documentary work like La noche del Diablito. Currently, he is expanding his reach into the U.S. market, writing comedy in English and collaborating with high-profile creators such as Argentine director Juan José Campanella.
