Eli Roth is a multi-talented American film director, producer, writer, and actor, born on April 18, 1972, in Newton, Massachusetts. He is most closely associated with the horror genre, particularly the "splatter film" subgenre, and is considered a key figure in the "Splat Pack," a group of filmmakers known for their graphically violent horror movies.Roth's career began with his directorial debut, Cabin Fever (2002), a low-budget film that became a box office success and launched him into the spotlight. He followed this with the highly influential and controversial Hostel (2005) and its sequel Hostel: Part II (2007). Other notable films he has directed include the action remake Death Wish (2018) starring Bruce Willis, the family-friendly horror film The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018), and the slasher comedy Thanksgiving (2023).In addition to his work behind the camera, Roth has a prominent acting career.
