Élie Semoun is a French comedian, actor, director, writer, and singer, born on October 16, 1963, in Paris, France. He hails from a Sephardic Jewish family of Moroccan and Algerian descent. At 17, he wrote two poetry collections and two plays. In 1988, he began appearing on the TV show Vivement lundi! on TF1, where he portrayed a horse on roller skates. In the early 1990s, Semoun partnered with Dieudonné M'bala M'bala, creating edgy sketches that addressed taboo topics like racism and poverty. Their performances gained attention, leading to appearances on Arthur’s Emission Impossible in 1992. The duo's first show was at Café de la Gare in 1991. They continued collaborating until 1997. Semoun's solo career flourished with numerous films and TV shows. Notable works include Les Trois Frères (1995), Cyprien (2009), and Ducobu Président! (2022), where he also served as director. He has voiced characters in animated films like Ice Age and Robots. In 2025, at age 61, Semoun announced he was expecting his second child with Aude Fraineau, a 30-year-old audiovisual professional. He has a son, Antoine, born in 1995, who has Asperger's syndrome. Semoun has openly discussed the challenges and joys of fatherhood, including Antoine's premature birth and diagnosis.
