Elisabeth Singleton Moss is an American actress, director, and producer renowned for playing complex and often intense female characters in television and film. Born on July 24, 1982, in Los Angeles, her early career included a recurring role as President Bartlet's daughter, Zoey Bartlet, in The West Wing (1999–2006). She achieved widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal of Peggy Olson, a secretary who rises to become a top copywriter, in the AMC series Mad Men (2007–2015).Moss is also celebrated for her lead roles as Detective Robin Griffin in the BBC miniseries Top of the Lake (2013, which earned her a Golden Globe) and as June Osborne/Offred in the Hulu dystopian series The Handmaid's Tale (2017–present), for which she won two Primetime Emmy Awards (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Drama Series as a producer) and a Golden Globe.
