Elliot Cowan is a British actor born on July 9, 1976, in London, England. He was raised in Colchester, Essex, and later attended Uppingham School, followed by the University of Birmingham where he earned a first-class degree in drama. He then continued his training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 2001.Cowan has had a successful career in both film and television, with a wide range of roles. He is particularly known for his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 2008 miniseries Lost in Austen and as Lorenzo de' Medici in the series Da Vinci's Demons. Other notable television credits include King Henry VII in The Spanish Princess, Daron-Vex in Krypton, and Corporal Jem Poynton in Ultimate Force. His film roles include Ptolemy in Alexander (2004) and a part in The Golden Compass (2007). He is also cast as Jack Smurl in the upcoming film The Conjuring: Last Rites, which is based on the real-life Smurl haunting case. Beyond acting, Cowan has been involved in theatre productions and has even provided voice-over work for video games.
