Emma Dumont (born November 15, 1994, in Seattle, Washington) is an American actress, model, and dancer distinguished by her diverse talents in both the arts and sciences. She began her training in classical ballet at the age of three and studied at prestigious institutions including the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, American Ballet Theatre, and the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow. Her performing career expanded into musical theater and professional modeling, winning the V Magazine V A Model search in 2010 and signing with Ford Models. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Dumont is a mechanical engineer and robotics enthusiast; she was a team captain and mechanical engineer for a FIRST Robotics Competition team and has served as a mentor in the program. In the realm of film and television, Dumont has built a prolific career starting with her feature film debut at age 12 in True Adolescents (2009). She gained significant recognition for her leading role as Melanie Segal in the ABC Family series Bunheads (2012–2013) and as Emma Karn in the NBC period drama Aquarius (2015–2016). One of her most iconic roles came in 2017 when she was cast as Lorna Dane, also known as Polaris, in the Marvel/Fox series The Gifted, where she portrayed the complex, powerful daughter of Magneto. In the 2021 horror reimagining Wrong Turn, she played Milla D'Angelo, a member of the central group of hikers whose survival instincts are tested by the isolationist Foundation. Most recently, Dumont appeared in Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning biographical thriller Oppenheimer (2023) as Jackie Oppenheimer.
