Emmanuel Ohene Boafo, born on July 4, 1993, in Meppel, Netherlands, is a talented Dutch-Ghanaian actor who has garnered significant recognition early in his career. He discovered his passion for acting after watching a youth theater production and pursued his training at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts. Directly after graduating in 2018, he secured a permanent position with The National Theater, where he has been involved in numerous plays. His exceptional talent was quickly acknowledged, earning him the Guido de Moor Award for Best Young Actor in 2017 for his role in Ondertussen in Casablanca. In 2020, he received the Henriëtte Hustinx Award for Most Promising Actor, followed by the prestigious Louis d'Or in 2021 for his English-spoken monologue Sea Wall, making him the first Black actor to win this highest honor in Dutch theater and the youngest winner in history. Beyond theater, Boafo has an expanding filmography, including roles in White Berry (for which he received a Golden Calf nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2022), El Houb - The Love, Pariah (earning him a Golden Calf nomination for Best Leading Actor in 2024), and the Netflix film iHostage (2025). He also provides the Dutch voice for Black Panther in the What If...? animated series and has voiced characters in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Boafo is celebrated for his versatility and impactful performances across various mediums.
