Eric Bana

Eric Bana (born Eric Banadinović on August 9, 1968, in Melbourne, Australia) is an accomplished actor and comedian of Croatian and German descent. He began his career as a stand-up comic and sketch comedy performer, joining the cast of the popular Australian series Full Frontal in 1993, which led to his own programs like The Eric Bana Show Live. His transition to dramatic acting was cemented by his critically acclaimed lead role in the 2000 biographical crime film Chopper, for which he gained 30 pounds and won the Australian Film Institute (AFI) Best Actor Award. This breakthrough role launched his Hollywood career with roles in major films such as Black Hawk Down (2001) as Delta Force Sergeant 'Hoot' Gibson and the title role of Dr. Bruce Banner in Ang Lee's Hulk (2003). Bana continued to take on major roles, playing Hector in the epic Troy (2004) and the lead role of a Mossad agent in Steven Spielberg's historical thriller Munich (2005). He won a second AFI Best Actor award for the Australian film Romulus, My Father (2007) and played the villain Nero in the 2009 reboot Star Trek. Bana has consistently worked across genres, starring in films like The Time Traveler's Wife (2009), Lone Survivor (2013), and the Australian mystery drama The Dry (2020), which he also produced. He is married to Rebecca Gleeson and has two children, and is also known as a motor-racing enthusiast. For his services to drama, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2019.
