Ernesto Díaz Espinoza is a Chilean film director, screenwriter, and editor, born on June 10, 1978, in Santiago, Chile. He is widely recognized as a pioneer of action cinema in South America and has been honored multiple times as the best Chilean director and writer by Wikén magazine.Espinoza studied Audio Visual Communication in Cinema and Television and further honed his craft by taking a scriptwriting course at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain. He made his feature film debut in 2006 with "Kiltro," which holds the distinction of being the first martial arts film produced in South America.His filmography showcases a strong focus on action, crime, and martial arts genres, often incorporating elements of dark humor and a distinct stylistic approach. Notable works include "Mirageman" (2007), which won Best Film at the Austin Fantastic Fest; "Mandrill" (2009), which received the Best Action Film award at FANTASPOA in Brazil; "Bring Me the Head of the Machine Gun Woman" (2012); "Redeemer" (2014); "Santiago Violenta" (2014); and "The Fist of the Condor" (2023).
