Evan Johnson
Evan Johnson is a Canadian filmmaker, born in 1983, who hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and is most recognized for his frequent collaborations with fellow filmmaker Guy Maddin. Johnson studied film and philosophy at the University of Manitoba. His notable work as a co-director includes the feature film The Forbidden Room (2015) with Maddin, which won the Toronto Film Critics Association's Rogers Best Canadian Film Award in 2015. He also co-directed the 2024 film Rumours with Guy Maddin and Galen Johnson. His filmography also includes co-directing a number of short films with the Maddins, such as Puberty (2014), Elms (2014), Colours (2014), Cold (2014), Lines of the Hand (2015), Once a Chicken (2015), Bring Me the Head of Tim Horton (2015), Seances (2016), The Green Fog (2017), Accidence (2018), Stump the Guesser (2020), and The Rabbit Hunters (2020). He has also received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Original Interactive Production for Seances in 2017.
