Felipe Joffily
Felipe Joffily is a prominent Brazilian film director and producer, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1976. His introduction to the film industry came at an early age, having frequented the set of Quem Matou Pixote? (1996), directed by his cousin José Joffily. He initially studied communication at PUC-Rio before moving to the United States to continue his film studies at the New York University School of Film, Video and Broadcasting. While in New York, he directed and produced several short films, including You Know What I'm Talking About and Next Stop.Upon returning to Brazil, Joffily diversified his work by directing music videos for various Brazilian artists and working on television programs such as SuperBonita (GNT) and Cilada (Multishow). His feature film directorial debut was with Ódiquê? (2004), which earned him awards for best director and best film at the New York International Film Festival.He is widely known for his successful comedic films, often collaborating with popular Brazilian actors. His filmography includes Muita Calma Nessa Hora (2010) and its sequel Muita Calma Nessa Hora 2 (2014), both of which were box office successes in Brazil. He also directed E Aí... Comeu? (2012), Os Caras de Pau em O Misterioso Roubo do Anel (2014), Minha Família Perfeita (2022), and Nas Ondas da Fé (2021).His recent work includes the Netflix comedy Almost Family (2025), which explores the cultural rivalry between Brazilians and Argentines, and O Rei da Feira (2025), a comedy featuring Leandro Hassum. Felipe Joffily is recognized for his skill in directing comedies that resonate with Brazilian audiences, often blending humor with relatable social and cultural themes.
