Fernando Albizu

Fernando Albizu is a Spanish actor of film, television, and stage, born on September 21, 1963, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava, Spain. Before his acting career took off, he pursued studies in architecture and fashion design, and even worked as a teacher of design and anatomy. His entry into performance began when he worked as a costume designer for a cabaret group in Madrid, leading him to start performing on stage. Albizu has become a prolific character actor in Spanish cinema and television, with notable film roles including the Engineer in Guillermo del Toro's critically acclaimed Pan's Labyrinth (2006) and Mogambo in Bulgarian Lovers (2003).A key milestone in his career came with the film Gordos (Fat People) in 2009, for which his role as Andrés earned him a Goya Award nomination for Best New Actor and a win for Best Film Actor in a Minor Role from the Spanish Actors and Actresses Union. His performance as the security guard Román in the 2021 film The Good Boss also garnered him a nomination for the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actor. In television, he has held main and recurring roles in Spanish series like Casi perfectos (2004–2005) and Gominolas (2007), and has also appeared in international productions like the Italian comedy The Price of Nonna's Inheritance (2024).
