Ng consistently delivered powerful performances, earning critical recognition with a Golden Horse Award for Best Actor for Johnnie To's The Mission (1999) and a Hong Kong Film Critics Society Best Actor Award for Bullets Over Summer (1999). He also won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for 2000 AD (2000).
