Frederick Lau (born August 17, 1989, in Berlin-Steglitz, Germany) is a prominent German actor celebrated for his versatile roles in both film and television. He began his acting career at the age of 10, securing his first role in the series Achterbahn. By 2008, Lau gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Tim Stoltefuss in Die Welle, a role that earned him the Deutscher Filmpreis (German Film Award) for Best Supporting Actor. Lau's filmography includes notable performances in Victoria (2015), a German crime thriller shot in a single continuous take, and Rising High (2020), a Netflix film about the Berlin property market. He also starred in the 2024 Netflix series Crooks, a German thriller drama. In addition to his acting career, Lau has lent his voice to animated films such as Zootopia and The Secret Life of Pets.
