Ganesh Acharya

Ganesh Acharya is a highly prominent Indian choreographer, film director, and actor known predominantly for his work in Hindi cinema, having choreographed over 500 songs in a career spanning more than two decades. Born on May 23, 1971, into a Tamil family in Madras (now Chennai), he faced early personal hardship after the death of his dancer and choreographer father when Ganesh was only 11, which forced him to discontinue his studies due to financial ruin. He began his professional journey early, founding his own dance company at the age of 12 and making his debut as a choreographer with the film Anaam in 1992. His unique and energetic style has led to numerous iconic dance numbers, earning him the National Film Award for Best Choreography twice: for "Hawan Kund" from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) and "Gori tu lath mar" from Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), alongside winning a Filmfare Award for the song "Beedi" from Omkara (2006). Beyond choreography, Acharya has also directed films like his debut Swami (2007) and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai (2008), and has appeared as an actor in various movies. He is married to Vidhi Acharya, a film producer, since 2000, and they have a daughter named Soundarya Acharya.
