Gary Dourdan, born Gary Robert Durdin on December 11, 1966, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American actor and musician. Raised by his mother, a teacher and fashion designer, and his father, an entrepreneur and agent for jazz musicians, Dourdan was the fourth of five children. He showed an early interest in music, playing piano, guitar, and saxophone. A significant personal loss occurred when he was six: his 21-year-old brother, Darryl, died after falling from a balcony in Haiti, a case that remains unsolved.Dourdan's career began in the early 1990s in New York City, where he played in various bands and performed in regional theater. He gained early visibility in music videos, notably as Janet Jackson's love interest in her 1993 hit "Again." His television career started with roles in shows like "A Different World" and "The Cosby Show."
