GaTa (real name Davionte Ganter, born June 30, 1987) is an American rapper, hype man, and actor best known for playing a fictionalized version of himself on the hit FXX series Dave. Raised in South Central Los Angeles, GaTa was adopted by his aunt after time in foster care and began rapping at an early age, citing Da Brat as an early influence. He gained recognition as a hype man and performer, touring with high-profile artists like Lil Wayne and Gym Class Heroes, and co-founding the music label G.E.D. alongside Tyga and Schoolboy Q. In 2013, he teamed up with rapper Lil Dicky (Dave Burd), which led to a lasting creative partnership and his eventual transition into acting.Although he had no formal acting training, GaTa's breakout came with Dave in 2020, where he delivered a standout performance marked by raw honesty—particularly in a storyline centered on his real-life experiences living with bipolar disorder.
