Gayathrie Shankar is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Tamil cinema, gaining recognition for choosing character-driven and unconventional roles. Born on May 2, 1993, in Bangalore, Karnataka, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She made her screen debut with the psychological thriller 18 Vayasu in 2012, but achieved widespread recognition and her breakthrough performance in the same year with the cult comedy Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom opposite Vijay Sethupathi. Her notable collaborations with Vijay Sethupathi continued in films like Rummy (2014), Puriyadha Pudhir (2017), and the critically acclaimed dark comedy Super Deluxe (2019), where her role as the wife of a transgender person earned praise. In 2022, she expanded her career with significant roles in Lokesh Kanagaraj's blockbuster Vikram and Seenu Ramasamy's Maamanithan. The same year, she made her successful Malayalam debut with Nna Thaan Case Kodu, for which she won the SIIMA Award for Best Female Debut – Malayalam, further cementing her status as a versatile, pan-Indian performer.
