Genevieve Adams is an American actress, screenwriter, director, and producer known for her work in independent film. She was born and raised in New York City and graduated from Dartmouth College in 2011 with a degree in English. During her time at Dartmouth, she became involved in the theater scene, participating in productions such as Eurydice and performing improv comedy with the group Casual Thursday. Adams made her film debut in 2014 with a role in the film Bird People, directed by Pascale Ferran, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. That same year, she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in I'm Obsessed with You, a romantic comedy that began as her honors thesis at Dartmouth. The film premiered at the Sonoma International Film Festival and featured an ensemble cast including Rachel Brosnahan and Thomas McDonell. In 2022, Adams wrote, directed, produced, and starred in Simchas and Sorrows, a dramedy that explores the complexities of interfaith relationships and religious conversion. The film tells the story of Agnes, an atheist actress who decides to convert to Judaism to marry her fiancé, Levi. Simchas and Sorrows premiered at the Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival and was later distributed by Gravitas Ventures.
