Geoffrey Newland
Geoffrey Austin Newland is a Scottish actor and voiceover artist with over 20 years of professional experience. Born and raised in Hawick, Scotland, he grew up in a hotel environment, which he describes as "alone whilst surrounded by strangers." His parents separated when he was six, and he remained with his father, who suffered from bipolar disorder and alcoholism. As an only child, Newland often retreated into his own world to escape a very unstable and often threatening home life. He attended boarding school for 12 years and later studied law at university, qualifying as a barrister. After traveling the world for over two years, he was inspired by the passing of his father to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He graduated from the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and further honed his craft at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Newland is best known for his roles in 28 Years Later (directed by Danny Boyle), The Franchise (directed by Sam Mendes), Kursk (directed by Thomas Vinterberg), Outlander, A Kind of Spark, BBC1's Spooks, Starz's Da Vinci's Demons, and Coronation Street. He has also performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company and lent his voice to the podcast Night Falls, which has garnered over 4 million downloads and was nominated for a 2024 Independent Podcast Award in fiction . In addition to his acting career, Newland is a professional voiceover artist with over 18 years of experience. He has voiced characters in the video game Cyberpunk 2077 and has worked with clients such as Apple, Google, Alphabet, BBC, ITV, Sony, Starz, Barclays, HSBC, and IBM.
