Raised in a Jewish family in the San Fernando Valley, she began acting at the age of 14, eventually graduating from Beverly Hills High School. She furthered her education at Emerson College and later New York University, earning a BFA in drama and psychology/philosophy in 1983.Gershon's extensive career in entertainment spans film, television, and stage. She gained early recognition with roles in films like "Cocktail" (1988) and "Red Heat" (1988). Her breakout roles came in the mid-1990s with "Showgirls" (1995) and "Bound" (1996), both of which showcased her bold and versatile acting style.
