Godehard Giese is a German actor, director, and writer, born on October 20, 1972, in Hamburg, West Germany. He initially studied German and Italian at Humboldt University of Berlin for three years before pursuing acting at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin from 1997 to 2000. After his formal training, he was a member of the Stadttheater Hildesheim for two years, continuing his work in theatre while also embarking on a film and television career in 2005.Giese has become a versatile and recognized face in both German and international productions, working with renowned directors such as Wim Wenders, Edward Berger, Tom Tykwer, and Christian Petzold. His filmography includes notable works like "A Cure for Wellness" (2016), "Transit" (2018), "Alone in Berlin" (2016), "Babylon Berlin" (2017-), and "Deutschland 83" (2015). He has been nominated three times for the German Film Award and won the German Television Academy Award for Best Actor. He also made his directorial debut in 2014 with "Die Geschichte vom Astronauten" (Story of the Astronaut). Giese is cast in the upcoming film "Wunderschöner" (2025). In February 2021, he publicly came out as gay.
