Thomas Griffin Dunne, born on June 8, 1955, is an American actor, director, and producer with a career that has made him a prominent figure in independent and mainstream cinema. Born into a prominent literary and entertainment family—his father was the writer Dominick Dunne and his aunt was the famous author Joan Didion—he established himself as a versatile performer.Dunne is widely recognized for his leading roles in two iconic films of the 1980s: as the ghostly Jack Goodman in the horror-comedy An American Werewolf in London (1981) and as the bewildered Paul Hackett in Martin Scorsese's surreal black comedy After Hours (1985). The latter earned him a Golden Globe nomination. His acting career has continued with diverse roles in films like Dallas Buyers Club, My Girl, and Ocean's Eight, as well as a memorable recurring part on the television series This Is Us.Beyond acting, Dunne is also an accomplished director and producer. He co-produced After Hours and other notable independent films, including Baby It's You and Running on Empty.
