Grusha Kapoor is a seasoned actress who has spanned over 30 years in the entertainment industry across theatre, television, films, and OTT. She was born to the acclaimed theatre director and writer Ranjit Kapoor and his wife Tisha; she is also the niece of the well-known actor and presenter Annu Kapoor. Her name, of German and Russian origin meaning "wild horse," was chosen by her father after a character in Bertolt Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle. Growing up in a creatively charged environment, she began her acting journey at the age of 15 and attended Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in New Delhi. Due to her early entry into professional acting, she did not attend college but furthered her craft through the National School of Drama's (NSD) Theatre-in-Education (T.I.E.) program. In her early career, Kapoor gained immense popularity through the landmark television series Tara (1993) and later appeared in notable shows like Kora Kagaz and Kehta Hai Dil. Her filmography includes early appearances in Jaanam Samjha Karo (1999) and the horror film Hawa (2003). After a brief hiatus from television in 2017, she successfully transitioned to the digital space, notably playing Sunny Leone's mother in the web series Karenjit Kaur – The Untold Story of Sunny Leone. In recent years, she has remained prolific with roles in films like Ujda Chaman (2019), Murder Mubarak (2024), and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024). Her most recent work includes the late 2025 release Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, where she continues her streak of character-driven performances in mainstream Bollywood.
