Gustavo Hofman
Gustavo Hofman is a prominent Brazilian sports journalist, commentator, and correspondent, widely known for his work with ESPN Brazil. Born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, and raised in Campinas, São Paulo, Hofman initially played basketball in his youth before pursuing a career in journalism. He graduated in Journalism from the Catholic University of Campinas (PUC-Campinas) and holds a postgraduate degree in Communication and Marketing from Faculdade Cásper Líbero.His journalistic career began in websites and magazines in Campinas, before he moved to major publications like Folha de S. Paulo and the Terra portal as a reporter. He also worked as a reporter for Revista Trivela and served as editor of its website. Hofman gained recognition for his deep knowledge of football, particularly covering leagues and teams from less traditional footballing nations like Ukraine and Russia.In 2011, he joined the ESPN Brazil team of commentators, where he has become a familiar face and voice on programs like "Bate Bola Bom Dia" and "Futebol no Mundo." He is also known for his YouTube channel, "#AssisteaíHofman," where he shares his passion for global football. In 2014, he was responsible for covering the German national team during the World Cup, an experience that led him to write the book "Quando o futebol não é apenas um jogo" (When football is not just a game). In 2018, he covered the Brazilian national team at the World Cup in Russia. In June 2022, Hofman was promoted by ESPN and moved to Madrid, Spain, to serve as a correspondent, further expanding ESPN's European coverage alongside colleagues in England and Spain.
