Han Ji-won

Han Ji-won is a Seoul-based South Korean director, illustrator, and cartoonist, known for her animated films. She gained recognition as the youngest South Korean to direct a theatrically released animated film with her debut feature, "Clearer Than You Think" (2015). Her work often explores the dreams of youth and the emotions of characters living in a pressure-filled Korean society. While attending the Korea National University of Arts, she directed her first animated short, "Kopi Luwak" (2010), which won the Grand Prize at the Seoul Independent Animation Film Festival. She has since worked as a 2D animation director and independent producer, also creating the web animation series "Recipe to My Daughter." Her short film "The Sea of the Day of the Return of Magic" (2022) also received acclaim, winning the grand prize at the 2022 Seoul Independent Animation Film Festival and competing in the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Most recently, she co-wrote and directed the animated romantic drama film "Lost in Starlight" (2025).
