Hidetaka Yoshioka, born on August 12, 1970, in Saitama, Japan, is a distinguished Japanese actor who began his career as a child actor. He gained early recognition for his roles in the Otoko wa Tsurai yo film series, where he played Tora-san's nephew, Mitsuo Suwa, growing up alongside the character in numerous installments. Yoshioka also appeared in Akira Kurosawa's films Rhapsody in August and Madadayo, further establishing his reputation as a talented performer. He achieved critical acclaim and won two Japan Academy Awards for Best Actor for his portrayal of Ryunosuke Chagawa in the Always: Sunset on Third Street film series. In recent years, he has continued to take on significant roles in both film and television, including his memorable performance as Kenji Noda, a former Naval weapons engineer, in the internationally successful Godzilla Minus One (2023).
