Huang Jue
Born on August 7, 1974, in Nanning, Guangxi Province, Huang Jue is a distinguished Chinese actor and a prominent figure in the country's independent and art-house cinema scenes. Before entering the film industry, he studied at a local dance institute and spent time in Beijing performing as a dancer. His acting career began to gain momentum in the early 2000s, particularly with his role in Baober in Love (2004), which earned him early recognition. Over the following decades, he established himself as a versatile performer, appearing in notable works such as Falling Flowers (2012), for which he received critical acclaim, and the blockbuster drama Better Days (2019). Beyond acting, Huang is an avid photographer and has recently ventured into electronic music under the name DJ DaShanPao, co-founding the music label SOLO Studio. Huang Jue is a key collaborator of director Bi Gan, having starred as the lead protagonist, Luo Hongwu, in the acclaimed sensory noir Long Day’s Journey into Night (2018). In that film, his performance was central to the movie's innovative structure, including its famous hour-long 3D sequence. In Bi Gan's 2025 science fiction epic Resurrection, Huang Jue takes on the role of Mr. Luo, a powerful mob boss. His character appears in the film's "Touch" segment, set in a port city on New Year's Eve in 1999, where he serves as a formidable antagonist to the young protagonist, Apollo.
