Hugo Gélin

Hugo Gélin (born May 4, 1980) is a versatile French film professional, recognized as a director, screenwriter, and producer, belonging to a prominent family in French cinema. Born in Paris, he is the son of actor and producer Xavier Gélin, and the grandson of actor Daniel Gélin and actress Danièle Delorme. Gélin began his career with brief acting roles as a child before moving behind the camera, working as an assistant director and camera operator. He made his directorial feature film debut with the road trip comedy Just Like Brothers (Comme des frères) in 2012, which earned him a César Award nomination for Best First Film. He is most widely known for directing the successful comedy-drama Two Is a Family (Demain tout commence) in 2016, starring Omar Sy, and the high-concept romantic comedy Love at Second Sight (Mon inconnue) in 2019. Beyond directing, Gélin has had a significant impact as a producer and screenwriter, notably producing the box-office hit The Gilded Cage (La Cage dorée) (2013) and co-writing the screenplay for the Netflix film French Lover (2025). He also directed episodes of the successful Netflix series Lupin (2021).
