Ian Chen (Chinese: 陳琦燁) is an American actor born on September 7, 2006, in Los Angeles, California. He comes from a Taiwanese American immigrant family and is fluent in Mandarin, along with his younger brother, Max.Chen began his acting career at a young age, with early appearances in commercials before landing his first credited role in an episode of "Modern Family" in 2013. His breakthrough came in 2015 when he was cast as Evan Huang, the youngest son in the popular ABC sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat", a role he played for all six seasons until 2020. This show was significant for being the first Asian-American sitcom to air on network prime time in two decades.He is also widely recognized for his role as Eugene Choi in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) films "Shazam!" (2019) and "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" (2023). In these films, he portrays the tech-savvy foster brother of Billy Batson who, along with the other foster siblings, gains superpowers.Beyond "Fresh Off the Boat" and the "Shazam!" movies, Ian Chen has appeared in various other television series and films.
