Born in Santiago, Chile, as María Ignacia Allamand Lyon, she is the daughter of former Chilean defense minister Andrés Allamand and Bárbara Lyon. Allamand became a household name in Chile through her portrayal of Úrsula in Nicolás López's popular film trilogy, starting with Qué pena tu vida (2010).
