Imogen Poots

Imogen Gay Poots is an English actress born on June 3, 1989, in Hammersmith, London, to a current affairs television producer father and a journalist and voluntary worker mother. Raised in West London, she was privately educated and, despite originally planning to become a veterinary surgeon, she began attending the Young Blood Theatre Company in her teens after fainting during a veterinary surgery work experience. After achieving high grades in her A-levels, she won a place at the Courtauld Institute of Art but deferred enrollment to pursue acting. Her screen career began with a role in the TV series Casualty in 2004, followed by a non-speaking part in the 2006 film V for Vendetta. Her breakthrough came at age 17 when she was cast as Tammy in the post-apocalyptic horror film 28 Weeks Later (2007). She has since built a diverse filmography, including roles in Fright Night (2011), A Late Quartet (2012), Need for Speed (2014), Green Room (2015), Vivarium (2019), and The Father (2020), where she played Laura. For her role as Debbie Raymond in The Look of Love (2013), she won the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. On television, she has been a main cast member in the series Roadies (2016) and the miniseries I Know This Much Is True (2020), and currently stars as Autumn in the Prime Video series Outer Range (2022–present). Poots is also an accomplished stage actress, receiving a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her 2017 West End debut in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
