Irene Wan
Irene Wan (born July 30, 1966) is a legendary Hong Kong actress, singer, and producer whose career has spanned over four decades, evolving from a "sexy beauty" icon of the 1980s to a respected veteran of Asian cinema. Born into a large family in the Tiu Keng Leng district, she was discovered at age 15 and earned a Hong Kong Film Award nomination for her debut in Lonely Fifteen (1982). She became a household name through her "femme fatale" roles in classic TVB dramas like Gods of Honour (as the fox spirit Daji) and films like Rouge and Everlasting Love. Though she stepped back from the industry after her marriage to businessman Kenneth Ho in 2000, she made a major comeback in the late 2010s, winning Best Actress at the 2020 Silk Road International Film Festival for her role in The Fallen. In the 2025 historical epic 731 (also titled Evil Unbound), Irene Wan takes on a poignant supporting role as Xin Zao, a character caught in the horrific reality of the Japanese biological warfare unit. Moving away from her glamorous image, her performance in 731 is noted for its raw emotional weight, contributing to the film's portrayal of civilian suffering and the human spirit's resilience.
